Serenity to Accept by Elizabeth Maddrey – Book Review

IMG_2818

Karin Reid has no time for God.  Her childhood memories keep her in a vice-like grip of unbelief.  If God was worth knowing, how could He allow her to suffer the abuse she was dealt as a child?

She lives her life ‘on the edge,’ never caring too much about her sexual encounters, nor about having faith in an unseen God.  Then she encounters Jason.  He is a successful and very handsome doctor.  She wants him for herself but his expectations are too high.  He is a Christian, and so a relationship with him means she has to change. Although physical intimacy is each one’s desire, he cannot and will not compromise his spiritual ethics.  Been there – done that and the result was painful.  How can he make her understand?

Karin experiences frustration and confusion as Jason shares her interest in more than a friendship but then withdraws. He is aggravated by her determined efforts to capture his heart by any means necessary, while she cannot fathom his hesitation.

This is a lovely story and an easy read.  The friendship and ultimate relationship between these two professionals makes engaging reading as they tread the very fine line of respectful human relationship.  I found the story engaging throughout and would recommend the book without hesitation.
