Well, winter has arrived with vengeance. Quite a blanket of the white stuff fell overnight. The weather forecast said to expect around five centimetres……….methinks ten would be a better measure. The tree boughs are heavy, and, in fact, are boughing!!!!
It is a beautiful sight, but that is the best I can say about it. Travel is impacted; walking is difficult. The truly happy folk are the winter sports enthusiasts, skiers, sledders, hikers (with snow shoes). I envy them their zeal and energy. Time was , when I too enjoyed outdoor activities – when my sons were young. We would all bundle up in warm clothes and head out with our toboggans, finding the best hills to conquer. Afterwards, hot drinks were the order of the day, then home, cold but exhilarated by the cold fresh air and exercise.
As for me, I now choose to stay close to home. I baked my traditional christmas cakes yesterday. This morning I wrapped them to keep them moist, all ready for christmas celebrations.
Whatever you do today; however you choose to spend it, just enjoy the day.
Cold. Yes, but a bright, fresh, new day is a blessing. Do not waste it.
